Undergraduate Education: Radio & Speech

After serving in World War 2, Carson enrolled at the University of Nebraska where he majored in Radio & Speech with a minor in physics. While still at school, Carson worked as a commentator with KFAB in Omaha. Karson was also a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, and was the master of ceremonies for the ‘Kosmet Klub’, a male dramatic society. Carson’s senior thesis was titled “How to Write Comedy For Radio”. In his thesis Carson discussed the techniques and devices that radio comedy writers use to create jokes in comedy radio shows. Carson’s former school has honored him by naming their school of theatre and film after him.
