Mahatma Gandhi (Education)
Preeminent Leader of the Indian Independence Movement
Undergraduate Education: Law
Gandhi’s father always dreamed of his son going to law school. He thus studied at University College London where he majored in law. After Gandhi finished law school he moved back to India where he opened a law firm that failed to attract clients. After the failure of his law firm he joined a law firm in South Africa where he experienced tremendous racial discrimination during the apartheid era there. During his experiences at the law firm in South Africa, Gandhi first began using non-violent protest methods.
