Obama completed her undergrad at Princeton University where she majored in sociology. Obama had a hard time adjusting to life at Princeton she never felt completely welcome there and her roommate supposedly tried to switch out because of Obama’s ethnicity. Obama ended up graduating as a cum laude and moved on to study law at Harvard Law School. At Harvard, she worked for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and was an advocate towards the school hiring more professors who were members of minority groups. Obama went on to work for the Sidley Austin Law Firm where she met her husband Barack. When discussing her education Obama once said, “My university degrees transported me to places I never could have imagined – to boardrooms and courtrooms, to the White House – where my mother now lives with my family, and we’re raising our daughters just steps from the Oval Office.”
