Robert Oppenheimer (Education)
Oppenheimer studied at Harvard University where he majored in chemistry. However, he was also required to study the history and philosophy of mathematics. Oppenheimer ended up graduating from Harvard as a summe cum laude in only three years. After he graduated from Harvard, Oppenheimer went to study abroad at the University of Cambridge where he conducted atomic research at the university’s Cavendish Laboratory. Oppenheimer later received his doctorate in philosophy with distinction from Göttingen University. He wrote about the problem of the absorption of X-rays in matter for his doctoral thesis.
