Brin majored in computer science and mathematics at the University of Maryland where he graduated with honors. Brin later moved on to Stanford for his post-graduate studies in computer science. At Stanford, he worked on a graduate fellowship from the National Science Foundation. Brin then remained at Stanford to pursue a Ph.D dergree in computer science. During his Ph.D he met Larry Page, the two had the idea to build a website that would allow users to easily access all the information on the web. Brin dropped out of his Ph.D program to work on his new company fulltime.
