Undergraduate Education: Animation

MacFarlane always had a keen interest for comics growing up and he even created sketches for local newspapers. MacFarlane studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (RSID) where he majored in animation. At RSID, MacFarlane would create different short stories and films, his senior thesis was a short film called The Life of Larry. This short film involved a man and his talking dog named Peter and Brian, the same characters he would later use for his hit television show Family Guy. MacFarlane went on to work for Cartoon Network, which at the time was called Hanna-Barbera Productions.
