Sigmund Freud (Education)
Neurologist and Psychoanalyst
Undergraduate Education: Medicine
Freud enrolled at the University of Vienna at the age of 17 where he studied medicine. At university, Freud was a lab assistant to one of the professors where he conducted research on the nervous systems of lower animals such as fish and eels. Choosing medicine was not an easy choice for Freud and he always felt that the field scientific research was more up his ally than medical school. Freud’s marks at school were nothing special and he ended up spending some time at the laboratory of Ernst Brücke to pursue his passion in scientific research before finishing off his degree. After university, Freud went on to study neurology.
